ADVOCATE

We facilitate avenues of advocacy for Tennessee small farmers and food entrepreneurs by identifying needs and coordinating plans of action that work. We work to increase diversity and equity through every layer of the Tennessee foodshed—from our farmers’ fields to our farmers’ markets; from home kitchens to selling food on our streets; from our most rural landscapes to our most vibrant cities; and from our neighborhoods to the Tennessee State Capitol.

EDUCATE

Providing education and serving as a resource for current and potential farmers and entrepreneurs is one of our primary goals. With time and support, we can get there! We plan to offer courses that teach how to succeed as a farmers’ market vendor, we plan to assist farmers in diversifying crops and creating value-added products, and inform the public about Tennessee’s local foods through special events.

LEGISLATE

Tennessee’s small farmers, food entrepreneurs, and community farmers’ markets need stronger lobbying power and louder amplification. We want to create policies that help these food businesses make direct sales to consumers and keep dollars within our local community. Creating change is a full-contact sport, but we can win if we all get in the game.

OUR MISSION

SIGN OUR PETITION FOR LOCAL AND STATE POLICY CHANGE!

Current state laws are too burdensome on our community farmers’ markets. Local farmers cannot legally sample fresh foods, farm cheeses, or cooked local meats. Food entrepreneurs cannot sample their salsas, or cook and serve food to shoppers from their canopy tents. To learn how you can help us amend these laws to allow or farmers and chefs to succeed at our local farmers’ markets, read & sign our petition!
